Home Just youth calling! Are you 18 to 25? / Ready to volunteer? Apply Now Who we are? We are a missionary project set up in 1998 by the Spiritan congregation in the catholic church of British Province. By aiming all of our activities around supporting the moral, social, spiritual and cultural development of the children, we hope to motivate them to become fair and justice seeking adults. We want to help young people explore and express their feelings, beliefs and challenges through discussion, reflection and activities in an atmosphere that is relaxed, safe, supportive and fun! Discovery days Whether in school or at our Centre, discovery days are a chance for pupils to take a step back and do something different. Each day is aimed at helping young people explore issues, inform opinions and values, and encourage them to build a better world for the future. Some of our most popular themes include: Team/Community building – Friendships – Choices – Transition – Catholic Social Teaching and CARITAS in action – Seasonal focus for the Church’s year – Sacramental preparation. We are also available for hire to run residential retreats at a venue of your choice. What we do? Louange - Volunteer How do we do it? We have a dedicated team that is made up of Spiritan priests, educational professionals and gap year volunteers. Our team comes from all over the world. Bringing different experiences, cultures and traditions to our team helps bring our ministry to life! Chaplaincy Provision This is our main area of ministry and offers consistent contact with the team. It is tailored to meet the needs of the school. Alongside our regular visits to the school we also include discovery days, training, transition work and reflections for pupils, staff and much more. Our packages allow pupils and staff members to develop relationships with the team, allowing us to become a supportive and friendly presence in the school. Missions The idea of mission is to bring the whole school or parish together to discover what it means to be a part of a community. These take place over 3-5 days and can include workshops, prayers and sacraments such as Reconciliation and Mass. All pupils and staff will have special activities to help them to focus during the Mission. The Spiritans centre This is the base and home to most of our team. Our centre used to be the church of St Philip Neri serving the area of Lower Kersal in Salford. We have been here since 2008 and have converted the church building into a youth centre. Keeping many of the original features it provides an excellent atmosphere for reflection as well as plenty of space for our activities. Our centre makes an excellent destination for a retreat experience and our team would love to provide a programme for your group that will both inspire and support. Both the church and the hall are available for hire for self led groups for meetings and retreats. Members of our team will be on hand to assist you throughout the time you are with us.
